HORSESHOE BAY FARMS: THE LAND, THE PLAYERS, THEIR PLACE IN HISTORY

If you live in Door County or have visited Door County, chances are you have driven past the historic Horseshoe Bay Farms barns and homes on Bay Shore Drive. This property is now in the hands of Glenn & Barb Timmerman and has recently been placed on the National and State Register of Historic Communities.

The farm was at one time a world class Holstein breeding farm and at other times the largest fruit producer and seasonal employer in Door County. The evolution of the Farm under the ownership of the Murphy and Cowles families is a tale of entrepreneurial spirit, a deep love of the property, and a cast of characters and accompanying stories that ‘makes history’.

Glenn Timmerman will share his learning’s from the National Historic
Register application process, including the evolution of the families and
the farm over almost 130 years, including rare film footage and pictures.
This is the first known comprehensive telling of the Horseshoe Bay Farms story.
